ABOUT TEACHER SIMON
I'm an ICT 'guru' and English teacher from London, teaching primary, secondary & adult students in Myanmar since 2012. I have 3 children in the UK at university and a young son who lives in Bangkok.I currently work at an international school in Naypyidaw, teaching Phonics to KG and primary grades. I am also the school's SEN specialist. In my spare time, I devote my skills to teaching and providing English language resources for students and local teachers in the government school, monastic school and orphanage sector. My volunteer efforts are secular.
I previously worked in ICT. I use my skills to create FREE English language 'E-Learning' solutions for students and their teachers
I provide free English lessons at Sa Ma Mountain Orphanage (Naypyidaw) every weekend, for grades 3 through 8
I donate English language resources (storybooks, dictionaries and digital media) for students and their teachers
For many years, the government spend on education has been woefully inadequate. Under the new government of Daw Aung Sang Syu Chi, the expenditure has substantially increased. However, children in private orphanages receive no funded education whatsoever, and rely on the goodwill of local and foreign volunteers and donors.
Mr projects are online, in-class and on-site, in Naypyidaw Union Territory, Kayah State and Shan State, for the benefit of children in orphanages, children studying in government schools and their local teachers
Need to contact me? I welcome your messages of support, as well as details of orphanages and basic schools in the central Myanmar region
If you need to send anything by snail-mail (such as school books etc), this is my postal address
